Khwai River Lodge Hotel is a luxury lodge nestled on the edge of a leadwood and fig tree forest, overlooking the vast Khwai River floodplains and beyond into the Moremi Wildlife Reserve, Botswana. Khwai lodge is renowned for its large concentrations of mammals and it is not unusual to see many different types of wildlife from the comfort of your own private deck. As a year round destination for wildlife, predators can regularly be seen in the area, rated as one of the most prolific lodge in Botswana for viewing wildlife. The exceptional location of Khwai lodge makes it a regular host to Elephant, Buffalo, Lion, Leopard, Cheetah and Wild Dogs. Birdlife can also be viewed in abundance with exceptional sightings of wildfowl and raptors near the lodge. This is the perfect location for observing the perennial drama of the African bush and provides excellent birding. At Khwai River Lodge, you are close to Africa's heartbeat and at the centre of a world that has not altered since life began. You can sense this from the moment you arrive. Bush hats and desert boots, tall tales and long drinks, a past redolent of trophies and potent sundowners. For decades, as befits one of the most established game lodges in Botswana, it has hosted guests from all over the world on the Botswana safari trail. Khwai River Lodge is one of the oldest safari lodges in Botswana, opened in the late 1960's by the late Sir Seretse Khama, the first President of
independent Botswana. It is located eight kilometers north-west of the north gate of the Moremi Wildlife Reserve.
The luxury camp is set under a canopy of old indigenous Leadwood and Fig trees and offers a commanding view of the Khwai River flood plain. At Khwai River Lodge, you are close to Africa's heartbeat and at the center of a world that has not altered since life began. Upon entering our Khwai River Lodge, you immediately sense its big game heritage. Khwai River Lodge is owned and operated by Orient Express Safaris. Private game viewing activities are also available to the more adventurous – or for those wanting to relax, the lodge has a gym and a 'Naturally Wild' spa facility where guests can enjoy indulgent massages and body wraps in the facility or in the privacy of their own tent. Khwai Lodge also has a rustic boma for surprise cocktails and as a dinner venue ideal for small par ties and groups looking for something special – or you can choose to enjoy a private dinner on the deck of your tent.
Khwai River Lodge Accommodation
Khwai River Lodge is perfectly designed to blend into the surrounding environment. All luxury tents are housed on raised wooden platforms, offering great views, and shaded by a traditional African thatch roof. The large private decks are furnished with easy chairs and a hammock, ideal for viewing wildlife, or for enjoying a private dinner in complete privacy. The tent interiors are luxuriously appointed with such comforts as an en suite bathroom, private fully stocked mini bar, four poster beds complete with mosquito netting, as well as a discreet air conditioning. For your convenience, in-rooms safes are provided for the safekeeping of all cash, travel documents and other such articles.
The 15 twin-bedded luxury tents with thatched roofs feature lavishly appointed en-suite bathrooms and dressing areas. The tents are set on decks with outdoor lounges overlooking the Khwai River. Guests are advised to keep all cash, travel documents and other such articles on their person. The camp also has a safe to store valuables. Facilities include: Air conditioning and heating, overhead fans, individual gas geysers, 'His and hers' vanity unit, electric heaters, 110v/220v plugs for electric razors, facilities for charging video batteries, 24-hour DC battery lighting in guest rooms, hair dryers, outside lounge, with hammock and ceiling fan, and a mini bar.

Khwai River Lodge Activities:
Activities at the camp include morning and afternoon game drivesin open Land Cruisers as well as after-dark spotlight game drives. A cultural visit to a local village can also be arranged, as well as guided safari walks along the Khwai River. For the more adventurous, full-day private game excursions are also available to the nearby Okavango Delta where guests also have the opportunity to experience a boat cruise. For those wanting to relax, the lodge has a `Naturally Wild' gym and spa facility. Guests can enjoy indulgent massages and body wraps in the facility or in the privacy of their own tent.
Khwai River Lodge Family & Children Policy
Khwai River Lodge only accepts children 8 yrs and over. No childcare/baby-sitters is provided for. Children must be under the care of their parents at all times.
Please Note: Children 8-12 yrs require the use of a Private Vehicle and Ranger for all activities - this will be at an additional charge
