Itinerary Summary
On this exciting and memorable 15 day safari you will learn about African culture, partake in worthwhile game drives, rejuvenate your senses and see more wildlife and natural beauty than you can imagine...
Days 1 & 2: Songwe Village
Upon your arrival in Zambia at the start of your 15 day Zambia & Botswana Safari, you will be met by a representative and assisted onto your scheduled road transfer from Livingstone Airport to Songwe Village.
Songwe Village is built to resemble a traditional village and the atmosphere is just as peaceful. Songwe has 8 guest huts in an oval pattern, each named after past chiefs of the Mukuni people for your Zambia accommodation.
Your exposure to African culture will be subtle and interesting and tailored to suit your interests – Songwe Village is not a cultural show. The huts at Songwe's Zambia accommodation are spacious with tasteful traditional furniture enhanced by modern comfortable mattresses to ensure a good nights sleep.
Each hut at Songwe's Zambia accommodation has an en-suite flush loo and basin. The showers and baths are set on the edge of the Batoka gorge, 110 metres above the lower Zambezi River, enabling the best bathroom views in the world. Bathing will be a highlight of your Zambia accommodation at Songwe. While the atmosphere and appearance is traditional, the experience gives you an intimate camp in a private area with personal service.
Songwe Village is located on 300 acres of private land 5 kilometres (3 miles) downstream from Victoria Falls in Zambia; one of the 7 natural wonders of the natural world. The property adjoins the world heritage site and is only 11 kilometres (7 miles) from Victoria Falls in Zambia.
Songwe Village has been developed with the support and assistance of Senior Chief Mukuni of the nearby Mukuni village. This 700-year-old village is home to the Tokoleya people who have a long history in the area and for whom Victoria Falls in Zambia are a sacred and essential element in their culture.
Straddling the borders of Zambia and Zimbabwe, the majestic Victoria Falls captivates visitors from all over the world. The grandeur and beauty of this extraordinary natural phenomenon must be seen to be believed. Coming to the Victoria Falls in Zambia is the experience of a lifetime.
Days 3 & 4: Kwando Lebala Camp
After breakfast depart on a scheduled road transfer from Songwe Village to Kasane Airport for the scheduled charter flight to Kwando Lebala Camp.
Lebala is small and friendly with 8 large tented rooms accommodating 16 people. Full en-suite bathrooms and spacious interiors make it very comfortable and each room has its own deck for relaxing.
The rooms are widely spread out with a short stroll to the main lodge, so you are accompanied to and from your tent during the evening in case you encounter animals. This freedom from fences makes your African game experience all the more exciting.
The main thatched lodge is airy and relaxed with home-cooked buffet meals and fully stocked bar included in the tariff. The lounge is full of informative books and the large plunge pool is most welcome in the heat of the day.
Lebala Camp is in the heart of big game country and the open floodplains form the focus of the animal concentrations. The permanent Kwando River is full of Crocodiles and Hippos and sustains the animals in the dry season from May to October. The emphasis is very much on enjoying the animal experience and if there is something really special to see, dinner can wait!
Lebala Camp caters for a maximum of 16 guests in 8 luxury twin tents with en-suite bathrooms and an open-to-the sky reed enclosed shower. The rooms are so large and comfortable that you can't believe you are in a tent.
Each tent has its own wooden balcony where you can sit and watch animals stroll by. You get 3 wholesome, healthy meals per day. The rates include, wines, all alcoholic and other beverages.
Days 5 & 6: Savute Safari Lodge
This morning depart on a scheduled charter flight from Kwando Lebala Camp to Savute Safari Lodge. Savute Safari Lodge accommodates just 24 people in contemporary furnished twin-bedded luxury suites constructed of wood, thatch and glass, making them ideal for the hot and dry conditions.
Double volume suites with their spacious interior and large, glass sliding doors set the lodge apart from typical safari accommodation. Large private viewing decks and en-suite facilities, with showers, 'his and hers' towel robes and tea and coffee making facilities combine to make Savute Safari Lodge an unforgettable experience.
Your stay at Savute Safari Lodge is inclusive of accommodation, all meals, local brand beverages, laundry service, scheduled game-viewing activities and park entry fees. Safari activities include Game drives in open 4x4 safari vehicles in the Savute area, including the Savute Marsh and a visit to the ancient San rock paintings at Gubatsa Hills.
Days 7 & 8: Camp Moremi
After your morning game drive and breakfast (if time allows), you will depart Savute Safari Lodge on a scheduled charter flight to Kasane Airport. Upon your arrival in Kasane, and after clearing Botswana customs and immigration, you will be met by a Botswana safari representative and assisted onto your scheduled road transfer to Chobe Game Lodge.
Camp Moremi accommodates only 22 guests in East African-style safari tents, individually situated on raised teak platforms. Each tent is exquisitely furnished with an African teak wardrobe, luggage rack, dressing table, bedside pedestals and traditional director's chairs. Colourful woven rugs, designer linen and matching interior blinds complete your African hideaway.
'His and hers' towel robes as well as tea and coffee making facilities are also provided to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Each tent has its own private bathroom situated adjacent to the tent.
