Ark Tree Lodge Hotel is set in the heart of the Aberdares National Park, Nyeri District Kenya. The Ark Game Lodge Hotel overlooks a floodlit waterhole and salt lick which attracts a host of awesome wildlife such as elephant, rhino, leopard, bushbuck and occasionally an elusive bongo or giant forest hog.
The Ark Hotel resembles and is named after Noah's Ark, the Ark is designed with 'decks' from which numerous balconies and lounges provide superb vantage points for game viewing. A ground level bunker provides excellent photographic opportunities and takes you closer than you would believe possible to the animals. The Ark hotel is reached via the Aberdare Country Club and is a forty-minute drive.
Watch the constant comings and goings at the waterhole and salt lick.Elephants love the natural salt lick and get onto their knees to dig into the ground with their tusks.
They then lick up the salty earth. This goes on for hours and they finally quench their thirst at the waterhole. Numerous other animals visit this busy meeting place all day and night so there is always something to see.

A buzzer system operates in each room to alert you when there is something very special to see such as a Leopard, who usually sneaks to the floodlit waterhole in the dead of night. It is of course up to you whether or not you get up!

Ark Lodge Hotel Restaurant
 Located on 'C' Deck, the Main Dining Room is set off from the Bar. Long tables are softly lit, and the far side of the split-level room has a glass wall, enabling a superb view of the dense forest. The menu is a cosmopolitan combination of European and Kenyan dishes, made from an abundance of fresh Kenyan produce. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are Table d¿hôte. Lunch is only served to guests staying for more than one night, or on special prior request. Seating capacity is 140 people.

Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Breakfast: 7:00 a.m.
Lunch: 12:45 p.m.
Dinner: 7:30 p.m.
Lounge
Located on `C' Deck, the Lounge has a fireplace lit from the afternoon to late at night. Comfortable leather settees surround the fireplace and the glass walls, while the bar sports leather-padded stools. The walls are graced with paintings of wildlife. Above the fireplace in the lounge hangs the preserved head of a black rhino, the creature having been trampled to death by an irked elephant at the waterhole. The lounge remains open throughout.

Hours of Operation:
The bar is open until last requests in the evening, or 11:00 p.m. Liqueurs, beers, soft drinks, fresh juices, wines, spirits, and cocktails are served. From 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., tea/coffee with pastries/cookies are served, and after dinner. After dinner coffee, tea and hot chocolate are served throughout the night. Early morning tea/coffee is served from 6:00 a.m.
