Rekero Cottages

Rekero Cottages are set amidst the teeming wildlife of the Maasai Mara, Rekero is a seasonal family run camp literally feet away from the Talek River where the massive annual migration between the Serengeti and the Maasai Mara can be seen crossing the waters. Home to the Beaton family and surrounded by the greatest concentration and diversity of wildlife in the world, it provides exceptional game viewing and close links with the local Maasai and Ndorobo people. Up to fourteen guests can stay at Rekero in charming Meru tents with en-suite bathrooms complete with flushing loos and bucket showers. The bedrooms, dining tent and lounge area overlook the river where subtle night time illumination silhouettes visiting animals. All Rekero's guides are highly trained Maasai or Ndorobo tribesmen, and as the camp lies within the main park, wildlife viewing is focused on game drives although walks are still possible nearby. In partnership with Jackson Ole Looseyia, an experienced and knowledgeable Maasai guide, the Beatons studiously avoid typical 'tourist' safaris. As a result of this, guests are genuinely welcomed and offered a natural insight into tribal cultures and lifestyle, this combination makes Rekero a unique and magical experience.

What makes it special is the knowledge and hospitality shown by the Beaton family and their local Masai and Ndorobo guides. This, combined with the exclusivity of this quiet corner of the Masai Mara, make Rekero a rewarding and ideal place from which to explore this world famous park. Game viewing can be done on foot with an experienced guide, or in a customised 4x4 vehicle
