In the heart of a Mozambique along its jagged coastline, is place where an endless amount of time can be spent lying peacefully on sandy white beaches staring over emerald water at tropical islands.
The place is known as Vilanculos, it's located around 700km's North of Maputo and its Mozambique's best kept secret for travellers wishing to venture into paradise. Unlike other destinations, Vilanculos is accessible by all vehicles (you don't need a 4x4) and it has its own airport, operating direct flights to South Africa on a daily basis. The Quirimbas Archipelago consists of 32 coral islands stretching from Pemba (the capital of Cabo Delgado Province) to the Rovuma River, which forms the natural frontier between Tanzania and Mozambique.
The area has never been developed and remains an unexplored tourist paradise.
The southernmost 11 of these islands and a vast expanse of mainland forest are included in the Quirimbas National Park - a conservation effort to preserve and protect the area.

A port on the Indian Ocean, its economy is centered aroundthe harbour.It has an official population of approximately 966,837 (1997), but the actual population is estimated to be much higher due to slums and other unofficial settlements.
Coal, cotton, sugar, chromite, sisal, copra, and hardwood are the chief exports.The city manufactures cement, pottery, furniture, shoes, and rubber.

Thick forests of casuarinas, coconut palms and cashew nut trees grow on the shores of this island.It is the largest in the Bazaruto Archipelago, with towering dunes and large inland lakes frequented by many water birds and even crocodiles.
No-one knows for sure how the creatures got here, but it’s thought they probably swam through the Mozambique Channel from the mainland.
