BAZARUTO ARCHIPELAGO
The Bazaruto Archipelago consists of five pristine islands, the closest being 10 km offshore of Vilanculos. Vilanculos Beach Lodge is the perfect base from which to explore the Bazaruto Archipelago.
Most of the Archipelago has been declared a National Park and sustains a diverse range of flora and fauna. Visitors are often rewarded with sightings of dolphins, turtles, rays, whales (at the start of summer) and, if you are lucky, a dugong.
Over 150 bird species have been identified in the area, including several rare species. The varied habitats make this a birdwatcher's paradise. The sand banks are a haven for pelicans and wading birds such as flamingos.
The Bazaruto National Park is protected by WWF and Park Fees are payable: non-resident adults Mts 200,000, children 13-20 yrs Mts 50,000, under 12 free. Tickets must be purchased before entering the Park. These can be obtained from registered tour operators or from the WWF office in Vilanculos village.

There are a number of restaurants and bars in Vilanculos. Some of these are within walking distance of the Lodge and can be easily accessed from the beach. We only recommend walking on the beach in daylight. Should you wish to dine out at night, most restaurants offer complimentary transport to and from their establishments.
Try your hand at "birding" along the beach or from the privacy of your chalet balcony.
Non-motorised activities available on the beach at Vilanculos Beach Lodge include sea-kayaks, paddle-skis, laser sail-boat, hobie and beach volleyball.
The sea is calm and shallow in front of the Lodge and ideal for swimming and paddling. Comfortable loungers, large thatched umbrellas and waiter service guarantee "100% relaxation" on the beach.
Alternatively spend the day next to the swimming pool and enjoy the tranquil gardens.
