Itinerary Summary
Kunene - Elephant Tour - 10 Days/9 Nights
Day 1
Your tour guide will meet you at the Hosea Kutako International Airport and drive you to your hotel in Windhoek, the capital city of Namibia. You have time to recover from the flight, stroll around the central business district of Windhoek, indulge in souvenir hunting or just relax.
Bed and breakfast at the hotel are included.
Day 2
We drive north via Okahandja, Otjiwarongo and Outjo and Kamanjab to Kavita Lion Lodge, enjoying a packed lunch along the way. Kavita Lion Lodge is situated on the farm Kaross on the western boundary of the Etosha National Park and is home to the Afri-Leo Foundation, dedicated to the conservation of the Namibian lion. Dinner, bed and breakfast are included.
Day 3
We continue north to Epupa Waterfall in the Kunene River. With a little bit of luck the legendary desert elephants may be sighted along the way.
We encounter the first nomadic Himbas, enjoy a packed lunch, and overnight at Omarunga camp at the Epupa Waterfall. Dinner, bed and breakfast are included.
Day 4
We do some sight-seeing in the area surrounding Epupa and visit a traditional Himba village. Opportunity to go hiking in the area around the Epupa Falls where you will see the ancient "Affenbrot"-trees, which were not affected by the floods of the last century. You should see some of the many crocodiles in the Kunene River.
We again overnight at Omarunga Camp with dinner, bed and breakfast.
Day 5
We return to Kavita Lion Lodge where we go on a game drive and attend the daily feeding of the lions. A packed lunch, dinner, bed and breakfast are included.
Day 6
It is a short drive to the Etosha National Park where we spend time at various waterholes to observe the wildlife, enjoying a picnic lunch along the way. At Okaukuejo Rest Camp we are booked in for dinner, bed and breakfast.
Day 7
We spend the day leisurely driving west to east across the Etosha National Park in search of lions, elephants, eland (the biggest antelope), the Damara dik-dik (the smallest antelope), giraffe's and many more.
We enjoy a packed lunch along the way and arrive at Mokuti Lodge for dinner, bed and breakfast.
Day 8
We travel via the Otjikoto Lake to Tsumeb (a mining town) and on to Otjiwarongo where we visit a crocodile farm. Lunch by way of lunch packs along the way.
From Otjiwarongo we continue to Mount Etjo Lodge for dinner, bed and breakfast.
Day 9
We return to Windhoek stopping at Okahandja to visit the indigenous woodcarvers market. Lunch by way of lunch packs along the way.
You are booked into a Hotel in Windhoek with enough time left for some shopping. Bed and breakfast are included.
Day 10
Time for some shopping before driving to the International Airport for your flight back home
