Flying safari to the Selous game reserve \ Back to Tanzania Safaris

Tanzania safari to the stunning Selous Game Reserve. An opportunity to enjoy some spectacular game viewing in the largest game reserve in Africa covering an area the size of Switzerland. The Selous Game Reserve is possibly Africa's last great wilderness. Despite its size, however, this UNESCO World Heritage site has only a handful of high-end safari camps, allowing it to maintain a low-impact exclusivity that is granted by few parks elsewhere. Opportunities for foot safaris and game walks, boat explorations and the classic 4WD safari in open vehicles add a further unique element to the Selous safari and ensure its reputation for pure bush adventure remains untarnished by volume.

Transport between Dar es Salaam and the Selous is by air. Flying from Dar es Salaam currently departs to the Selous Park on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Selous Game Reserve is a 45,000km² haven of wildlife which boasts Africa’s largest buffalo population as well as ever increasing numbers of elephants. It is Africa’s largest game reserve, and contains a number of different camps- by far the most intriguing experience is the Fly-Camping. The fly-camping is usually a one or two-day expedition, with an armed guide. In the daytime, the guide with lead you into the bush on a wildlife trek.
