Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Pick up from airport or Arusha hotel by your guide and transfer to Tarangire National Park. Afternoon game drive. Tarangire National Park gets its name from the river that threads its way through it. The park has one of the highest animal concentrations during the dry season. Herds of elephants, buffalos, wildebeest, zebras, giraffes, and Elands, leopards can bee seen all through the year. For the bird enthusiast, the park offers over 300 species of birds. The vegetation in Tarangire is primarily acacia, mixed woodland, dense elephant grass along the river and numerous baobab trees. Day 2: Serengeti National Park
Early morning we continue to Serengeti National Park. Have packed lunch and a game drive en route. [BLD] Overnight Tarangire Camping Site
Day 3-4: Serengeti National Park
Spend the next two days on game drives in the morning and afternoon. The Serengeti is renowned for its annual wildebeest migration and large predator population. From February to May, a herd of over a million wildebeests migrate for the Western corridor of the park in search of greener pastures. Serengeti's' other common animals include lions, leopards, zebras, Thompson gazelles, impala, Grant?s gazelles and buffalos. Most of the park is open grassland broken by isolated granite kopies (hills) and patches of acacias woodlands. [BLD] Overnight Tarangire Camping Site
Day 5 : Ngorongoro Crater
Breakfast and a morning game drive before departing to Ngorongoro Crater. Stop at Olduvai Gorge en-route to visit the site where the Leaky family discovered the "Early East African Man". Those interested can visit the museum on site (own cost). Dinner and overnight Ngorongoro Camping Site
Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater
A half day game drive in the crater. One of the World's largest Calderas, 20 km wide, Ngorongoro Crater is
also one of the best Wildlife viewing areas where Black Rhinos can be seen in Tanzania. The crater at 2.286 m above sea level is the largest unbroken Calderas in the world. Surrounded by very steep walls, rising 610 m from the crate floor, it covers 260 km2 and is home to over 30.000 animals, almost half of them being zebra and wildebeest. Day 7: Manyara National Park
Depart to Manyara National Park with packed lunch en-route. Later in the afternoon we enter the park for game drive around Lake Manyara. Lake Manyara Nat. Park is well known for its tree-climbing lions. The park covers 390 km2 and is sanctuary to over 400 species of bird that include the pink flamingos, pelicans, storks, Ibis and Egyptian Geese. Day 8 : Manyara National Park to Arusha
Depart for Arusha after breakfast. Drop off at Kilimanjaro Airport or Hotel in Arusha. END OF SAFARI. [BL]
Tanzania Camping Safari 07 days
Day 01: Arusha - Lake Manyara
Depart Arusha for Lake Manyara arriving by lunch time. Afternoon game drive. Meals and overnight at Lake Manyara Twiga/Jambo/Fig Tree campsite.
Day 02: Lake Manyara - Serengeti
After breakfast drive into Olduvai Gorge, the site of Leakey’s discovery of fossils of animal and human ancestors dating back almost two million years. Meals and overnight at Seronera Public campsite.
Day 03: Serengeti Full day
Spend the day in Serengeti with two game drives. Meals and overnight at Seronera Public campsite as the day before.
You can visit the park all year round but there is less game in the park during the dry season July /October, where they migrate to the Masai Mara in Kenya. During March to May the herds move in search of grazing to the southern section and in May to June, they move towards the western corridor of the park. Serengeti in the low season will still offer game viewing to match that of any park in Africa, and for some, the fact that there will be fewer tourists may be an added bonus
Day 04: Serengeti Full day
another day in Serengeti with morning and afternoon game drives. Search for any wild game you might have missed in the previous game drives, Dinner and overnight at Seronera Public campsite.
Day 05: Serengeti- Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast morning game viewing drive in Serengeti National Park, in the afternoon drive to one of the natural wonders of the world, Ngorongoro Crater. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Simba Public campsite.
Day 06: Ngorongoro Crater - Kudu
Leave after breakfast with picnic lunch for a full day crater tour, explore the crater, enjoy picnic lunch at the crater before ascending back to the Ngorongoro Simba Public/Kudu campsite for dinner and overnight.
The Ngorongoro crater is the world’s biggest whole volcanic caldera at 8300 sq km and is arguably the most stunning arena.
It is frequently described as one of the wonders of the world, not only because of its geological magnificence, but also because it serves as an extraordinary natural sanctuary for some of Africa’s largest populations of large mammals. Ngorongoro and other freestanding mountains are volcanic in origin, formed during the fracturing process that created the Rift valley 15 to 20 million years ago. When it peaked in size 3 million years ago it was a similar height to Mt. Kilimanjaro today.
Day 07: Ngorongoro/Kudu - Arusha
