Tarangire Treetops Lodge Hotel is 98 kilometers from Arusha situated in the 57,000 acres of Tarangire Conservation Area. Tarangire Treetops is a luxury safari lodge located on the eastern border of Tarangire National Park, Tanzania. Upon entering the luxury hotel, the reception reveals an artistically constructed area built in local material that leads to the main restaurant, with panoramic views of the landscape, hugged around a baobab tree. A few steps down to the left of the Tarangire Treetops Lodge, the extension leads way to the swimming pool with sun chairs to relax on your time off from wildlife watching and game viewing.

Astride the path of the elephant migration, Tarangire Treetops sits alone in a private conservation area bordering Tarangire National Park which covers an area of 260 sq kms and the Masai Steppe amid rolling baobab studded hills with views to Lake Manyara and the Rift Valley wall.

Treetops have a magical Never-Never Land feel appealing to anyone with a sense of fun and adventure. It is home to some of the largest herds of elephant in Africa, and other wild life in this area includes buffalo, lion, cheetah, and leopard. It is also an ornithologist’s paradise, rich in birds pf prey.

Tarangire Conservation Area is a 57000 acre Wildlife Management Area straddling the wet-season migration route into the adjacent Tarangire National Park.  This groundbreaking initiative in community conservation brings tourism into partnership with the villages of Lokisale and Makayuni.  These local Masai communities earn direct revenue from the Tarangire Treetops accommodation fee and an annual lease fee for community development such as the building of schools and dispensaries, grading of roads and erection of water-pumps.  In exchange for these benefits the local communities limit farming and grazing and stop all poaching, deforestation and charcoal burning, thus ensuring the habitat protection that will return the area to its natural state. Tarangire is particularly worth visiting in the dry season when the Tarangire River is one of the few sources of permanent water in the area. Consequently, it attracts large numbers of animals (most notably elephant, wildebeest and zebra) from the surrounding Maasia Steppe

Tarangire Treetops Lodge Accommodation
Tarangire Treetops offers 20 luxury tents, built atop tree-attached platforms, overlooking the Tarangire Sand River. Each en-suite unit has a private veranda and lounge area, with sweeping views over the private Conservation area.
Distinctively furnished blending natural materials and modern décor, the tree houses provide guests with a unique safari experience. Wildlife in the area includes buffalo, lion, cheetah, leopard and huge herds of elephant, frequenting the camps water hole. The camp also offers the unique facility of night game drives and game walks, including a Masai experience in an authentic boma.

Home to a unique ecosystem, the area has all the same species of wildlife as the Tarangire National Park, including buffalo, lion, cheetah, leopard and elephant. Huge herds of elephant frequent the site of the camp on their way to watering in the Sand River, ensuring year-round resident game. The establishment of this camp has also resulted in many developments for the village, including improved water facilities and a school, as a percentage of all visitors’ lodging costs is donated to several village improvement schemes.

Now fully refurbished and re-opening in December 2002, Tarangire Treetops features 20 luxury en-suite rooms, built atop tree-attached platforms, overlooking the Tarangire Sand River. The camp has been superbly blended into the environment with the sleeping platforms built into a variety of Baobab, Mopani and Wild Fig trees. The dining area is situated close to the swimming pool and elephant water hole is an innovative and stunningly original property consisting of large tree houses built upon platforms amongst a cluster of Baobab, Mopani and Wild Fig Trees.
