It sets an excellent theatre for game viewing! This spectacular waterfall of the Nile River is an amazing torrential rush, plunging 43 metres –squeezing through a 6 m gorge. For most of the year the park is hot by day and cool by night. Park rangers claim Sambiya is one of the richest areas for viewing birds in the Park and up to forty-five species have been recorded in one hour. Bugungu airfield is located only a few kilometers from the park headquarters at Paraa on the Southern side of the River Nile to cater for safari tourists visiting the park and staying at Nile Safari Camp, the Red Chili Rest Camp and Sambiya River Lodge. It is the second major field in the park after Pakuba airfield, which is partly tarmacked, located on the North bank providing access to Paraa Lodge.
Sambiya River Lodge Hotel Accommodation
The twenty thatched cottages include either one or two bedrooms with twin or double beds. Each of the 26 bedrooms has its own private bathroom facilities as well as a veranda from which guests can relax and enjoy the tranquillity of Africa. Family cottages are available, which consist of two rooms with an interconnecting door. The first room contains a double bed and the second room, two twin beds. For clients seeking low-priced accommodation, Sambiya offers ten thatched bandas which share bathroom facility blocks. Guests take their meals in the Lodge dining area.
A generator provides electricity in the mornings from the first wake up call until 7am and in the evenings from approximately 7:00 pm until 10:00 pm. Cottages are equipped with rechargeable emergency lights, but clients are advised to carry flashlights and spare batteries with them on safari.
